My name is Ron McGaughey. I make pictures. I grew up in Wenatchee. I attended Pennsylvania Academy of fine arts in Philadelphia and Burnley school in Seattle for graphic arts.
I reside in Manson on Lake Chelan and make a living as the director of the Chelan Museum, a small local history museum. I’ve continued my landscape painting on the side, returning to paint the Lower Grand Coulee year after year repeatedly focusing on the particulars of Deep Lake as a motif.
My picture WHITESTONE, a small oil painting, of Whitestone Rock on Lake Roosevelt, was recently installed in the Washington State Governors office.
My upcoming solo show Our Beautiful Butte will run June 18 to August 1 at the Vogue Coffee Bar in Chelan. 30 oil paintings of Chelan Butte will be the focus, with proceeds going to The Chelan Basin Conservancy, a non-profit group that is working toward preserving this local treasure.
